Rachel finally got her visa and she is now living happily in Scotland with her hubby Leigh. Here she is with Layke and Seth the morning she left.
Foggy-brained as I am, nothing jumps out at me about the summertime. I went to see Bo with Blood, Sweat & Tears in October I believe it was, or it might have been November. October I think. Anyway, he has been made their new lead vocalist and I must say he sounds fantastic with them. Absolutely fantastic!
I also saw him do a solo show in Jasper. HOT weather, but the show was worth the sweat!
My little Ernie the 12 year old basset hound, had surgery to remove 5 tumors from his body. He was in the hospital for two weeks, but he is doing nicely now. He's almost like a new pup!
Jimmy has become a rock star. He is playing with a band called Rare Breed. They have played at country club, corporate, and private parties as well as playing in local restaurants. Here is their publicity picture.
Thanksgiving we went to Gatlinburg and stayed the week. It snowed and it was so beautiful! We even took Georgia with us, as well as Sarabella, Mother's little dog. Don't they look adorable riding together? They are such good girls.
The snow was unbelievably beautiful.
I lost my precious Austin on Monday, December 9. I had stayed home from work with my fibromyalgia acting up, and I had just had a bath and laid down when Seth came in and told me that Austin couldn't get up. I flew out there in my pajamas and found him in front of his doghouse, struggling to keep his torso lifted up with his front feet. I went to pieces. Frantically I called Jimmy and he came right home and he and Seth gently took Austin to Dr. Garret to be put to sleep. Maybe I am selfish, but my heart couldn't stand watching him die, so Jimmy talked to him, telling him what a good boy he was and Seth was stroking him as he drifted off. Jimmy is so kind- he is having Austin cremated so he can be buried out by Pugsley, his buddy. Now two of my "gentlemen friends" have passed on. Breaks my heart.
Last weekend I had my annual trip to Nashville to attend Bo's Christmas party. I always look forward to it because we stay all afternoon and it is unhurried and we have time to visit both with each other and with him. The party was at The Rutledge and we had a nice lunch of fried chicken, mashed potatoes, green beans and rolls. There were cookies for dessert. This year he did something different and gave us all a piece of jewelry that he had made using his old guitar strings. I got a ring!
I had a great time hanging out that night with my friends from all over. We all gathered in my room and laughed and talked. The next morning we had brunch at The Southern in Downtown Nashville. Stephen Salyers surprised us and came to eat with us.
I came on home after the brunch while the others stayed on in Nashville. I know my limitations and I knew I couldn't push myself or I wouldn't be able to work this week. I sure missed them and doing the fun things they did like going to see my man Vince at the Opry!
The next morning Jimmy and Seth went to the Titans game in Nashville. They had a blast, but nearly froze to death! The weather turned frigid but they bundled up and bore it well.
The Library Girls and I had our Christmas "party" at Catfish Cabin this year and played Dirty Santa. I got a nice neck massager. Oh yeah.
Ok, that's pretty much got you caught up with my extraordinary ordinary life. I really need to do this more often, even if I am the only one who reads it!
